Training drivers
It takes 5 minutes to train drivers to use the scanners, they have four options and they only have to use the right one at the right location for example if it goes into the vehicle or is delivered and how to deal with returns if needed.
We have prepared manuals to understand the full operational capabilities of specific scanners we recommend or are using. These help should drivers start to exit the main program they need and how to bring back the status required.
However the driver’s biggest training aspect is to make them understand the benefits of using them properly. Failure from drivers using scanners results in inadequate data and undermining the process, they have to know that under no circumstances should they take the scanners lightly and failure to use them should result in disciplinary action.
The reason simply is that it reflects badly on companies that are using them. Part of the reason other than tracking the item is to gather data regarding company performance. Are the items being delivered on time is probably the most common data used and if drivers fail to scan items for delivery there is no way of telling what happened. Your company may be providing an excellent service but at the end of the day it’s hard to prove it without data.
Data also helps your company as you will be able to see the performance of each drive thus wheedling out those not representing your company properly.
It’s definitely in your businesses interest to get the drivers to take the scanners seriously.
